Our sub-100-person, sustainability-focused B2B SaaS startup client was seeking their first Head of Customer Success. A senior leader ready to design and scale a high-performing client journey and function from the ground up.

They need an accomplished B2B SaaS leader with a true scrappy builder persona to come in and own the full post-sale customer journey.

We presented four hires who fit that search criteria: 

The NRR Navigator – $200K Base + Bonus + Equity

  • VP Customer Success at a B2B SaaS MarTech
  • Joined at $1.2M ARR
  • Exited at $3M ARR 1.5 years later
  • Grew the team from 4 to 15 across all post-sales customer journey touchpoints 
  • Repeatable playbook that results in increased retention rate:
    • 110% NRR – B2B SaaS for marketing orgs
    • 93% retention rate – B2B SaaS for supply chain
    • 94% retention rate – B2B SaaS for SDLC workflows

The Experience Engineer – $140K Base + Bonus 

  • Head of Customer Success at a DTC brand with a small B2B sales motion
  • Joined at $4M ARR
  • Exited at $8M ARR
  • Built a 13-person team across all post-sales touchpoints
  • Earlier experience included leading client projects at a consulting company and post-sales delivery for a B2B SaaS 

The Journey Jedi – $180K Base + 10% Bonus + Equity

  • VP CS hired by a first-time founder to stand up the function 0-1
  • Joined at $1M ARR
  • Currently at $10M ARR
  • Built out an 8-person team 
  • Stood up a referral program which delivered 50% of all new account sales 

The Hire

  • Multi-time 0-1 leader, hired to stand up and build the function and post-sales experience: support, training, and implementation
  • Joined a B2B SaaS at $2M ARR 
  • Exited at $10M ARR 
  • 96% renewal conversion rate
  • Experience setting up and leading with tools such as GuideCX, Asana, Slack, HubSpot, Zendesk, PipeDrive, Salesforce, OKTA,

The hire was the most experienced candidate among those we presented. To secure this candidate, our client offered a $180,000 base salary plus equity.
