Head of Product Salary Insights

  • MBA Editorial
  • June 17, 2026

Our client is a B2B SaaS company in the workflow automation space, serving enterprise and mid-market customers. They were scaling a PLG motion alongside an existing sales-led business and needed a Head of Product to own both the core platform and the growth engine.

Their ideal hire had experience leading product in a SaaS business with meaningful ARR, a track record with PLG or usage-based growth, and the range to work across platform strategy and hands-on execution.

The Apex Architect – $225K USD base

This profile operates at executive altitude while remaining deeply grounded in product craft.

Experience includes:

  • Ownership of multi-product portfolios at $60M to $100M+ ARR
  • Full organizational leadership across Product, Design, and in some cases, Engineering (up to ~70 people)
  • Direct partnership with CEO or Founder
  • Expansion into PLG motions requiring experimentation, pricing, and modelling
  • Experience operating across EU and North American time zones

This profile consistently prices at the top of the Head of Product market.

The 0–1 Operator – $200K USD base

This profile is defined by being the first product leader and carrying the ambiguity of 0–1 builds.

Experience includes:

  • Reporting directly to the CEO as founding product leader
  • Shipping the first product to market
  • Landing early paying customers
  • Supporting acquisition outcomes
  • Prior ownership of large enterprise product lines ($100M+)

The Transformation Titan – $200K USD base

This profile is focused on modernizing rather than building 0–1.

Experience includes:

  • SaaS-ifying legacy products
  • Moving from annual to quarterly release cycles
  • Introducing PLG and freemium motions
  • Implementing analytics and identity-based onboarding
  • Leading globally distributed teams across 4 to 5 regions

The PLG Player – $150K USD base + stock

This profile joins to level up a product org and correct feature-factory behaviour.

Experience includes:

  • Pivoting from sales-led to pure PLG GTM
  • Expanding ACV from $80K to $150K
  • Managing small but senior product and design teams

The Scrappy Shipper  – $150K USD base

This profile operates as a scrappy, hands-on leader, and the compensation reflects EU market norms rather than US parity.

Experience includes:

  • Grew B2B SaaS revenue from ~$20M to ~$75M ARR
  • Owning a product organization of 10+ people
  • Taking products from POC to GA

The Regulated Resolver – $180K USD base + $40k bonus

This profile is brought in not only for their product chops, but also their domain expertise and ability to navigate regulated marketing.

Experience includes:

  • First product leader in a regulated fintech
  • Simplifying highly complex products for SMB GTM
  • Prior scale-up experience growing ARR from ~$70M to ~$90M
  • Strong focus on churn reduction and monetization

The Consumer – $145K USD base

This profile results in consumer origins which are lower in compensation than enterprise SaaS peers.

Experience includes:

  • Inheriting and rationalizing overbuilt PM organizations
  • Scaling consumer productivity apps from $25M to $60M ARR
  • Standing up product discipline
  • Building toward a B2B PLG motion

The Hire

Currently employed at a B2B SaaS scale-up, reporting jointly to the CPO.

Scope includes:

  • Ownership of a $100M ARR product line (one-third of total company revenue)
  • Ownership of the core platform used across all products (data, collaboration, UI/UX, design system)
  • A PLG motion directly tied to utilization, retention, and growth loops

Product outcomes include:

  • Utilization rates in the high 80s
  • Retention rates in the high 80s for multi-user teams
  • Clear retention deltas driven by onboarding, admin experience, and time-to-value improvements

This is not a caretaker Head of Product. This is a revenue, retention, and platform owner operating at the VP level under a Head of Product title.

To land this candidate, our client offered a $200K USD base + plus bonus and equity structured similarly to RSUs.
