Our client, a PE-backed edtech company with over 100 employees, was hiring for its most senior marketing leadership role, with a mandate centered on performance and growth.

The company was approaching $20M ARR and had recently secured meaningful investment to support its next phase of expansion. They were seeking a marketing leader with the mandate to establish a more transparent and disciplined approach to demand generation, channel performance, attribution, and marketing-led growth across a business serving both B2B and B2C customers.

The Startup Specialist – $200k CAD Base + 25% Bonus + Options

  • Experience as the first-ever marketing hire at a SaaS startup
  • Brought in as a growth marketer and rose to VP Marketing, leading a team of 10
  • Reporting directly to the CEO and helped the company scale from under $1M to over $15M ARR
  • Big wins include growing from 3 to 20 channels, while introducing SEO, ABM and Lifecycle playbooks with an eye towards more predictable Demand Gen
  • These efforts had led to a 2-3x growth in pipeline YoY over the last 4 years

The Scale-Up Specialist  – $250k USD Base + 35% Bonus + Equity

  • Experience as the first-ever marketing hire at a SaaS startup
  • Brought in as a Director of Growth Marketing and built out a team to 8 
  • Built the marketing infrastructure and strategy from the ground up as the company grew from sub-$10M ARR to $50M+ 
  • Implemented their MarTech stack and developed lead flow processes
  • Over the last 3 years, brought them to the point where they have a predictable demand gen engine, and made the transition to a hybrid ABM/PLG model

The Hire 

  • Experience as the first-ever marketing hire at a SaaS startup
  • Brought in to build out a performance marketing engine at a time the company had a very rudimentary understanding of Channel ROI, ROAS, and CAC
  • Built tracking and analytics from the ground up and brought more discipline into their marketing strategy as the company grew from $28M to $200M+
  • Additionally, brought to market a net-new B2B SaaS platform 

To secure this candidate, our client offered a $185k Base + 25% bonus + Options.
