The Search
Our client, a marketplace platform for construction and property management companies to identify, select, engage and procure service providers, was looking for their first ever Payments Product Manager. This hire would be responsible for building an Enterprise Billing and Payments engine for their web and mobile platforms from scratch.
The Client
VendorPM is a Toronto-based B2B SaaS startup with a vendor management, sourcing, procurement, and compliance platform. Founded in 2019 and just coming off a successful Series A round, they already have over 100 PM firms, 30k vendors, and over 5,000 building sites listed on their platform.
Search Requirements
This hire needed previous experience delivering a 0-1 payments product experience for businesses (B2B SaaS). Experience delivering a B2B payments solution at an enterprise-grade or for marketplaces as also required. They were looking for those with knowledge of payment workflows and payment models and those capable of working as a Lead with teams that include other Product Managers, Designers, and Backend Engineers.
The Hire
This candidate had over 5 years of experience in Product Management, all within the Payments/Fintech space. They have owned two separate 0 – 1 product launches and brought to life the first ever mobile banking app (iOS and Android) for a national bank, including international money transfer and bill payment capabilities. Post-launch, it grew from 0 to 250k users nationally.
They also became the first ever Product Manager hired at a digital banking startup. The company did not have a product at the time. Within three years, they brought to market their core digital banking and cards products (2M+ customers today) and product-managed integrations with Real Time Rails, Visa/ MasterCard, and Apple/Google Pay. Most recently, they executed the development of a B2B Payments platform and automated enterprise billing solution.
